Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller along with the Department of Family and Community Services and Heading Home announced the early opening of the Westside Emergency Housing Center.
Mayor Keller made the decision to open the doors prior to the below freezing temperatures that overtake the City at night.
“Winter weather struck Albuquerque early this year and we want to make sure that folks have a warm, safe place to go,” stated Mayor Keller. “We have assembled our team to make sure that we can get people out of the cold weather and into the shelter.”
People experiencing homelessness may utilize the Westside Emergency Housing Center and its services. The shelter will serve single men, single women and families with children.
